Solving diseases with NGS

This seminar aims to bring together researchers interested in applying next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies to address complex research questions in an unprecedented powerful manner and with unimaginable speed. Advances in  sequence‐capture  methodologies  combined  with  high  throughput  massively  parallel  DNA  sequencing  have revolutionized  the  identification of genomic alterations on a  single platform: Whole genome  sequencing can provide insights  into cancers, pathogens and model organisms; exome sequencing and targeted  resequencing can be used  to identify  novel  genes  for  rare  diseases.   However,  the  enormous  datasets  and  information  associated  with  these technologies also generate unique challenges  for analysis. This  seminar will provide overviews on  the applications of NGS  for disease discoveries & genomics  research. Additionally,  there will be a  forum on Software Solutions  to guide users through this maze of data.
